Just as a heads up, I’ll be hosting a development seminar (with the same content as the original one), but this time it’ll be during the second week of school for those that couldn’t make it the first time around. It’ll be from 4:10 PM – 6:30 PM on Monday 8/31, Wednesday 9/2 and Thursday 9/3 in the Chap Room. Again, these were the best times I could find, so sorry if they don’t work for anyone.
*NOTE: You will need to bring a laptop! Let me know if you don’t have one, because we’ll have to try to find one for you.
The topics I’ll be covering are extremely useful, and look great on a resume. In fact, the skills you’ll learn would allow you to go out and get a job right now (though I wouldn’t recommend that). No computer science experience is required! The curriculum very briefly covers:
How the Internet Works
Number Systems
HTML
CSS
PHP (mostly form processing)
PuTTY
Basic Linux
Emacs
Also, all Westlake students are invited, so definitely forward this email to any friends who might be interested. I’ll fill spots on a first-come-first-serve basis. It is highly recommended that you come all three days, but it is not required.
Please fill out this form (http://goo.gl/forms/HP4MVtyzEo) if you are interested in coming.
I will be sending reminders as the dates come closer, but the earlier you reply the better!
Thanks,
Rachel
